The vast majority of new home builds in Australia are brick veneer and nearly all these require internal plaster board linings. The Certificate in Wall and Ceiling linings will help you gain the knowledge and skills required to install and finish plasterboard and fibre cement sheeting to line walls and ceilings. You will learn to assemble partitions, construct bulkheads and install cornices and other features. You will learn from industry experts the techniques that deliver high-quality finishes required on commercial and domestic work sites, where you will be known as a Plasterer.
For many years now, solid plaster has been the preferred external finish for a majority of domestic dwellings in Australia. Our Solid Plastering course will provide direction to apply plaster or cement to a range of finished applications, use plastering tools safely and effectively , trowel texture finishes, install cornices, render straight and curved surfaces and much more. Once qualified, you will be known on-site as a Renderer.
Australia’s harsh climatic conditions ensure that there is always plenty of work for Painters and Decorators. In this course you will learn how to prepare surfaces and apply paints and other coatings, apply wallpaper, match colours and to work safely and effectively with tools and materials. You will be taught how to use scaffolding safely in a construction setting, so that you will be ready to go on site and work productively. Once qualified, you will be known on site as a Painter and can usually be recognised by your all-white clothing!
Carpentry is a versatile trade qualification that prepares students for a career in the construction industry. In this course you will work with trade tools and learn the skills to build, install, finish and repair structures and fixtures for domestic and commercial developments. You will learn to interpret plans, calculate pitches and slopes and understand the safety requirements of building sites. Our Trade Instructors have current experience in the construction industry and bring together the theory and the practical requirements of the course, to help you develop skills and gain an understanding of what is needed to succeed. Once qualified, you will be known on-site as a Carpenter or Chippy.
Bricks are used in almost all houses that are built in Australia, either as a veneer or in solid brick construction. Our bricklaying course will teach the skills to safely work with bricks and blocks to create walls, arches, steps, columns and much more. On successful completion, you will be qualified to work as a bricklayer or blocklayer, in an employment market that is in great need of skilled tradespeople. Payment is good for those who work hard and there are opportunities to provide specialty services in landscaping and other allied fields. Once qualified, you will be known on-site as a Brickie.
